Mountain Planet
Hiking in the Clouds at Bzerpi Cornice
We will enter the territory of Caucasus Nature Reserve, covering a heavily mountainous section of the Northwest Caucasus Mountains. It is the largest and oldest in the territory of specially protected natural area in the Caucasus, having been created in 1924 as the Caucasian Bison Reserve. Our trip changes depending on the weather conditions: we will either walk through the clouds and feel as if we are on a different planet entirely, or have an opportunity to see a picturesque panorama of the surrounding landscape.

Itinerary

Your Guide

Daniel
Your guide Daniel climbed to Pamir mountain base camp (above 4000 m) with his dad when he was just 3 years old. Eversince he fell in love with the mountains. Now he has more than 15 years of experience in alpine climbing and trekking. 3 years ago he decided to dedicate his life to what he loves the most - mountains, so he moved to Sochi and now designing and leading tours that he made and walked himself. Daniel is also into eastern philosophy and can introduce you to "yukigata" (from Japanese meaning "shape of snow") - japanese art and philosophy of mountain gazing.

Important details

Meals
We will walk down to the Bzerpinskiy cornice camp to have a traditional Russian camping lunch of buckwheat porridge and sausages, and drink herbal tea.
How hard it is
Almost full-day hike with an altitude gain of 700 meters. Guests must be ready for serious level of physical activity. But don't worry, if you have never tried hiking before. There will be lots of stops and a guide will make sure you are walking in a comfortable pace. We had many clients doing this hike as their first mountain experience. Your legs might be hurting the next day, but you will have no regrets.
Children 10 years old and above can attend, but must be prepared for a full day of walking.
Sportswear is a must (trekking shoes and comfortable clothes).
Meeting point and cable cars
Daniel will meet you at the Bottom station of Gazprom cableway "Laura". You'll have to buy a return ticket for about $15-20 (1100-1300 ₽). Daniel will help you with everything.
After the hike we can go down either the same way or take a ride on the world's longest and fastest cable car in the world - " 3S"! It offers views of all three resorts and various Olympic venues. Cableway ticket price depends on which way you will choose.

If you are planning to book after October - part of the cableway will be on maintanence. We'd have to go from priyut Gorny to Psekhako and then back by foot, which adds another two hours to our hike. Alternatively we can go up and down by car, which will cost $25 (1500 ₽) additionally.
Permit to Nature Reserve
Your guide will arrange the permits for you beforehand, so you won't waste your time on that. It is included in the price ($5-7) already. You just have to send your passport details at least one day before your trip.
Equipment
We will provide
First aid kit
Wildlife repellents (a siren, a flare)
Trekking sticks

You should bring
Sunglasses and sunscreen
Hat to protect from the sun
Water 1L+ (it's possible to drink water from the river on cornice, but better to bring with you)
Comfortable hiking shoes
Raincoat in case of bad weather
Great mood and a selfie stick :)
