The 2-Day Olympus Climb
Climbing the mighty Olympus in two days is a perfect opportunity to witness its glory if you are on a tight schedule. But keep in mind, that in order to fit this adventure in just two days, you will have to walk from 7 to 9 hours a day! But if you are up for a challenge and don't have that much time on your hands, the 2-day climb is right up your alley!

1. Easy
1-day or multi-day climbs at an altitude up to 3000 meters. Easy, mostly walking terrain. Good for most fitness levels. Also suitable for children and elderly people. Perfect for those who have never climbed a mountain and who want to try it out.

2. Moderate
1-day or multi-day climbs at an altitude of up to 3000 meters with some technical elements. Mostly walking terrain. Requires an average level of physical fitness.

3. Challenging
Multi-day climbs with longer and more exposed climbing areas at the altitude up to 5000-6000 meters. Requires high endurance to walk several days for about 4-6 hours a day. Steeper slopes, many crevasses. Requires an average to above average fitness level.

4. Strenuous
Strenuous climbs at altitudes of 5000-7000 meters. Requires high endurance to walk and climb on a moderate snow and ice slopes for several days for up to 8 hours a day. Continuously steep terrain, wall passages that require great commitment. Requires an above average fitness level and high level of stamina.

5. Extreme
Extremely challenging climbs for experienced mountaineers, high altitudes up to 8848 meters. Requires extremely high level of physical fitness and stamina, as well as great practical experience of technical mountaineering.

0. No requirements/ minimal requirements
Easy climbs with non-technical elements. No certain knowledge or experience is required for this activity.

1. Beginner
Climbing sections clearly arranged and unproblematic. Might include short steep passages and a few crevasses. Increased step safety is necessary. No prior experience is required, all necessary techniques will be explained by the guide before or during the climb.

2. Intermediate
Good navigational skills and efficient rope handling required, long climbing sections. Basic experience in using crampons and ice axes is required.

3. Advanced
Good sense of orientation en route, efficient rope handling, long climbs, requires securing at halting-points. Requires proficiency in basic mountaineering skills including: cramponing, walking on snow, self-arrest, crevasse rescue, and glacier travel on a rope team.

4. Professional
Extremely steep, partly overhanging wall passages, ice climbing sections. Requires proficiency in basic and advanced mountaineering skills including: cramponing, walking on snow, self-arrest, crevasse rescue, and glacier travel on a rope team.

Important details

Accommodation
During the climb we will overnight in refuges on the mountain. After our first day of hiking and climbing we will sleep at refuge Christos Kakalos. It is located at the Plateau of Muses at an elevation of 2650 m. It was named after Christos Kakalos the infamous Mount Olympus hunter, who guided Swiss climbers Fred Boissonnas and Daniel Baud Bovy to realize the first recorded ascent to Olympus highest peak Mytikas on the 2nd of August in 1913.

The refuge houses 17 people and offers lodging, food and toilettes.
Meals
For regular group tours meals are not included. They can be purchased additionally as Half Board (1 breakfast, 1 Dinner) for €20 and Full Board (1 breakfast, 2 lunch packs, 1 Dinner) for €40.

Private climbs can be upgraded to all-inclusive with 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 dinners included.
Your guides
All our guides are local professionals. They have been guiding on mount Olympus for years and know every nook and crany of the national park. They will make sure that every participant has a great and safe time on the adventure.
How hard it is
You will hike along mount Olympus trail for 3-8 hours per day and follow good forest paths mostly; above the tree line, the terrain varies from grassy uplands to rocky ridges, with some scrambling required for the peak ascents. A good level of fitness is required to climb the peak. Please keep in mind that our guides reserve the right to make the final decision if the group will climb to the final peak.
Medicine & Insurance
We strongly recommend purchasing a travel insurance that covers any cancellations, delays, medical expenses, emergencies and any other interruptions due to unforeseen circumstances that may occur during this trip.
Transfers
Your adventure begins in Litochoro - small village at the footage of Olympus. The nearest city is Thessaloniki, which is about 1,5 hours drive.
If you're not accommodated there, you'll have to get there. You can request a private transfer from your town for additional price. Let us know if you need help with that.
Equipment
What to pack with you
Get a large, comfortable backpack, sturdy worn in shoes, personal equipment (comfortable warm and light clothes, etc.), a sheet sleeping bag, water bottle, etc.
You will recieve the full gear list upon inquiring.

What we provide
Safety equipment for the ascent of the peak (helmets, harnesses, ropes).

Please make sure you have all the necessary clothes and equipment with you once you arrive to Litochoro. There are couple of outdoor stores in Thessaloniki where you can buy everything that is needed.
