on the way to Broad Peak
Broad Peak
Broad Peak is the 12th highest mountain in the world (8051 m). It belongs to Karakoram mountain range and located on the boarder of Pakistan and China. It is considered to be one of the "easiest" 8000-meter peaks. Nevertheless, it has been summited ten times less than Mount Everest and is adjacent to K2 (2nd highest mountain in the world - 8611 m). The summit ridge of the peak is almost 2 km long and therefore British explorer W.M. Conway thought Broad Peak was a suitable name.
The first ascent of Broad Peak was made in 1957 by Fritz Wintersteller, Kurt Diemberger and Hermann Buhl of an Austrian expedition led by Marcus Schmuck. This was also accomplished without the aid of supplemental oxygen, high altitude porters or base camp support.

Trek the most spectacular route in Karakoram

This trek in Pakistan is one of the greatest hikes on earth. Beginning in the remote village of Askoli, the trail winds its way along the grand Braldu Valley before mounting the Baltoro Glacier to Concordia. Positioned 12km from K2, Concordia is one of the few places on Earth where it's possible to see four 8000 m peaks from one place: K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II. You will be passing through a colossal amphitheater of sky-scraping summits – including seven of the 19 highest mountains on the planet.

Leave a footprint on one of the largest glaciated areas outside Polar region

The Baltoro Glacier at 63 km in length, is one of the longest glaciers outside the polar region. The glacier gives rise to the Shigar River, which is a tributary of the Indus River. The trough of this glacier is very wide. Small valley glaciers form icefalls where they meet the trunk glacier. The sidewalls vary from very steep to precipitous. The glacier has carved striations on the surrounding country rocks. Moving ice has formed depressions, which serve as basins for numerous glacial lakes. You will feel yourself on the other planet!

Discover unique culture and people of Baltistan

The Balti are an ethnic group of Tibetan descent with Dardic. For centuries, the silk route has made its path through the mountainous regions of Baltistan, because of which Chinese-Tibetan, Persian-Arab and subcontinent cultural commensalism and intermingling was observed. Village people of Baltistan are among the most friendly and hospitable of mountain peoples in Pakistan.
This region and its people are also known because of the bestseller "Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson, a mountaineer, who started humanitarian mission, and committed himself to building schools for girls in Pakistan and Afghanistan, trying to reduce poverty and elevate education.
