Mount Everest is Earth's highest mountain above sea level, located in Himalayas. There are two main climbing routes, one approaching the summit from the southeast in Nepal (known as the "standard route") and the other from the north in Tibet. Another popular activity on Everest is trekking to the Base Camp, located on the tibetan side of the mountain at an altitude of 5 346 m (17 598 ft).
